Lifeguard Programs

The Town of Danville offers a sequence of programs designed to develop swimmers into full-fledged lifeguards.

Junior Lifeguard Program

The Junior Lifeguard Program is available to youth ages 11 to 14 years, and provides an introduction to the Aquatics profession. Participants learn lifeguarding techniques, basic water safety instruction, and other valuable job skills. Upon successfully completion of the program, participants are able to put their stills to work out on the pool deck.

Lifeguard Training Classes

The Aquatics Program also offers Lifeguard Training Classes to those 15 years and up. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. This course certifies participants in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aide, and CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer. Individuals who successfully complete the program are encouraged to apply as a Summer Lifeguard / Swim Instructor with the Town of Danville.
