The Danville Library is part of the Contra Costa County Library System.

The Danville Library, an 18,000 square-foot building completed in 1996, is located adjacent to the Community Center. The Library serves the many and various requirements of the highly educated population in the area and provides unique resources to thousands of local students. In addition to its sizable collection of books, magazines and other media, the Library provides regular programs on an array of topics. Some of these include Pre-school reading, the Summer Reading Program, Mad Science and Paws to Read.

The 576 square-foot Mt. Diablo Room is available to rent for meetings, classes, and other indoor activities. The room can accommodate 25 for dining and 40 for assembly-style seating.

Eugene O'Neill's Expansion of the American Theater ◄

In conjunction with a series of events for the 2010 Eugene O'Neill Festival in Danville, Director Eric Fraisher Hayes will offer a presentation on O'Neill's Expansion of the American Theater, namely, how O'Neill expanded our idea of theater. Mr.Hayes' presentation will include actors who will demonstrate examples of the types of techniques and images that revolutionized the American stage and changed the way we see storytelling. Included will be a discussion of how modern theater, film, and television all have roots in O'Neill's theatrical experiments of the the 1920's. No registration is required but seating is available on a first-come, first-seated basis. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Danville Library.
