New Youth Police Vehicle for the Town of Danville

Community Outreach is one of the core values of the Danville Police Department and developing a solid relationship with the youth of the community is one of the pillars of that core value. With that thought in mind the Danville Police Department has, through a generous donation, acquired a special police vehicle to assist in making that connection with Danville youth.

The vehicle, a Ford Mustang, is equipped with emergency lights and other standard equipment of a Danville Police Department vehicle, but it also features a computer and monitor installed in the trunk that can be used in presentations and in delivering educational information to young people. The Youth Police Car will be used at school special events, bike rodeos and other venues where continued training and liaison with law enforcement is important. The goal of the Danville Police is to have a device that assists the Police Department in connecting to and teaching young people in the community, but would also be recognized as a symbol of trust and community involvement.

This vehicle was donated in memory of Maddie, a beloved Miniature Schnauzer whose unconditional love, devotion, loyalty and spirit inspired her caregivers, Dave and Cheryl Duffield, to start a charitable foundation in her name.

Maddie’s Fund®, The Pet Rescue Foundation, is a family foundation funded by Workday and PeopleSoft Founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl. Maddie's Fund is helping to create a no-kill nation where all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats are guaranteed a loving home.
