• In 1999, the San Ramon Task Force on Youth Safety and Development recommended that local law enforcement agencies join with high schools and develop a School/Community Resource Officer program. In January of 2000, that program was established at San Ramon Valley High School and Monte Vista High School.

The program has continued to grow throughout the years and has helped law enforcement bridge the gap between officers and area youth.

The issues that face our youth are numerous and the SRO assists school staff and families with various issues.

    This includes:

    • Alcohol/Drug usage and prevention
    • family disputes and relationships
    • Thefts, Bullying/Harassment
    • and various other law enforcement related issues

The SRO meets with parents and students on a daily basis in an attempt to provide guidance and support during difficult times. The SRO has become an integral part of our effort to provide comprehensive services to the youth of our community.
